In November of 2017 nine excited adult participants and three community Facilitators flew to Queensland to spend 6 days and five nights on the Gold Coast.
The group stayed in a house in Mermaid Waters which had enough space for all, a backyard pool and a spectacular view over the broad water. During the stay, the adults participated in all areas of the trip from assisting with the daily shopping, purchasing their own food, drinks and souvenirs, making their own beds each day, preparing meals and cleaning up the house before departure.
During the 6 day stay, the group visited some of the Gold Coast’s major theme parks and attractions.
Day 2 was spent at Sea World where we saw the incredible dolphins showcasing their amazing skills, watched in awe at the underwater view of sharks, turtles, rays and other marine life and even a few of the group braved the thrilling ride of The Storm rollercoaster.
On day 3 the group went to Pacific Fair shopping centre in the morning before heading out to Wet n Wild in the afternoon. Splashing in the wave pool was great fun and some of the participants even tried out the adrenaline inducing waterslides the park had on offer.
The group had a quick look around the entrance of Dreamworld where they had a chance to look at some very impressive Lego sculptures. In the evening the group were witnessed to an amazing and moving show at the Australian Outback Spectacular where they paid tribute to the Australian Lighthorse.
Day 4 was spent at Warner Brothers Movie World where there was something for everyone to enjoy. From the parade in the main street to the exciting displays from the stunt team; from the character’s interaction with the audience to the many thrilling rides that were on offer. Movie World was nothing short of spectacular.
The last full day on holiday was spent at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary where the group saw a couple of very impressive live displays with the birds of prey and crocodile shows. The group wound up the trip with an afternoon in Surfers Paradise before packing up and returning home on the Saturday.
