Meet Jackie, NDIS Advocate & Community Facilitator (Mildura)

Hi, I  am Jackie Moore and I joined Interchange in Mildura as a Community Facilitator in August 2017 and then added NDIS Advocate Mildura to my role in March this year.

I have had an extensive career starting initially as  a Primary School teacher, I then moved to IT Servicedesk support where I held roles as a Teamleader, and Service Desk Analyst managing the knowledge bases & databases for the Service Desk, along with project work to set up new Servicedesks in Australia and New Zealand. I then had a small break and had some children! I have 2 of my own daughters (11 & 13) and 2 step daughters who are now both studying at University.

I emigrated from the UK as a 9 year old child with my family, grew up in Melbourne and moved to Mildura just over 7 years ago.  I went into a family business of running a motel with my husband and parents.  I still work in this too alongside my role with Interchange.  I need to be constantly challenged & learning new things and have found my role with Interchange is certainly meeting all my needs.  I love the one-on-one work I do with one of our participants and I am really enjoying my involvement in this field of work.

If and when I manage some free time I actually love doing cake making & decorating (right down to making the flowers too). I also love cooking and enjoy travelling to new places and countries.
