Through the support of a team of Community Facilitators (and some innovative rostering by Steph), Vashti and Hedley (parents of Interchange participant Sancia), enjoyed a trip to China and experience the unique culture, food and amazing sights.
Sance was supported by amazing Interchange Community Facilitators – Sharon Hipwell, Talitha Travers and Emily McDonnell from Friday 28th June to Monday 15th July. Her support was a combination of staying in her own home but also visiting and staying with Sharon’s family.
During her time with CF, Emily, Sance enjoyed meals at the Marong Family Hotel twice (as Sance insisted on trying the lamb AND the beef!) – Pub photos beautiful lamb an massive smile
The pair headed to Maryborough for a day trip. Sance particularly liked driving there and was the car DJ (there was a lot of Pete Murray and Ed Sheeran!). Sance chose to go and see SpiderMan at the cinemas in Maryborough which had many stairs (that Sance was adamant she would climb with assistance from Emily). Sance was very proud of herself.
Visiting the Eaglehawk park to go on the swing and to many football ovals on the outskirts of Bendigo to play footy! They also watched movies, hung out in the games room playing table tennis and made Sance’s own pizza at home (ham and cheese).
During Sance’s stay with Sharon and her family, Sance spent time doing her favorite things in the world – visiting the sheep and making a John Deer Sign in Sharon’s shed with her family.
Sance had a list of activities she wanted to do over her holiday which included going to Luna Park. Sance was able to do this day trip with Sharon, including travelling to Melbourne on the train. She was so excited when they arrived and had a great time while she was there. During her stay she also went to the sale yards, cinema, Bendigo pottery, played Wii, cooked and spent lots of time with the animals.
Talitha supported Sance during the school holidays where they spent time at home chilling out, watching movies, paying tennis, ping pong and twister. Talitha also supported Sance to go on the Interchange Teens Camp where they stayed at the BIG4 in Swan Hill. Sance took part in many activities on camp and thoroughly enjoyed herself.
Vashti and Hedley are extremely thankful for the support Sance received while they had a well deserved (and overdue) holiday.
