Social Recreational and Community Support

At Interchange LMR, we understand the vital importance of being connected and engaged in social, recreational and community activities.

As part of the support we offer, participants have the opportunity to actively take part in events and activities with one-to-one support or as part of a group. These supports can be used to access both modified and mainstream sports and activities.

The possibilities for social, recreational and community support are endless and are driven by participant’s interest and goals. These sessions provide opportunities to assist in the development of other life skills such as travel training, meal preparation, cooking and money handling.

Examples of activities or events may include:

• Sporting games or training
• Swimming pool
• Gym or exercise classes
• Social group or club (scouts, men’s shed, community group)
• Dance, art, drama classes
• Community events
• Festivals • Socialising with friends or family
• Holidays or trips
• School holiday activities
• Religious and cultural events or celebrations
• Major sporting events (Big Bash, Australian Open, AFL)
